Question on Squelch; why not in other modes?

Any reason for not implementing squelch in other modes (especially SSB) ?

 - I really miss it.

At present squelch works with FM only.

I should have requested a non-FM mode squelch in
conjunction of my wanting to use the 2nd receiver to
monitor 6M for band openings.  I've been listening to
(low-volume) 50.125 mHz white noise today. (:-))
