I just finished my K3, at least to the point of doing the pre 100W PA alignments: Synth cal, filter set-up, ref osc & tx gain cals are all done.
I did the filter set-up via the K3 menu, then verified with the K3 utility program. I have the standard 2.8 kHz and the 8-pole 400 Hz filters. The problem I have is when adjusting the bandwidth to the point where the 400 Hz filter comes in - as soon as that happens, the receiver seems to go dead. Whoever I was listening to disappears and background noise goes waaay down...almost silent. I've dialed in both 1 and 8 dB gain for the 400 Hz filter but niether has any effect. Any suggestions? Thanks, John Harper AE5X ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Are you sure you've got the 400Hz filter in the slot that you told the
radio you put it into? If you've only double checked check two more times! ;) ~Brett On Mon, 2010-03-08 at 20:10 -0600, John Harper wrote: > I just finished my K3, at least to the point of doing the pre 100W PA alignments: Synth cal, filter set-up, ref osc & tx gain cals are all done. > > I did the filter set-up via the K3 menu, then verified with the K3 utility program. Yep, I've quadruple-checked: the 2.8 kHz is in FL1, the 400 Hz is FL2.
Maybe I should move them both over one slot and see if the symptoms change. Thanks to all who replied - brain fart here. I dialed the offset into the
400 Hz filter instead of the 2.8... All is well now! The 2.8 and 400 are both 8-pole filters so no offset should be needed
for them... ~Brett On Mon, 2010-03-08 at 21:46 -0600, John Harper wrote: > Thanks to all who replied - brain fart here.
