I have 2 Astron RS-35A power supplies for my two K3 radios. They sit on the floor under my desk with the K3 radios on the desk. The only noise they make is when I turn them on and that is standard “shock” due to the inrush of the AC as it powers up the supplies. Otherwise they are quiet.
No screws have had to be tightened in the several years they have powered my previous radios: 2 Orions.
Since I have never used switching power supplies I have no idea what they are like.
