Hello Dan,
I will arrive at Turkey Point Light around 10:30am on Thursday. I will
then meet a woman there who will give me a tour of the light. I will
take pictures outside and inside of the light. I plan to take pictures
of the light assembly on top from the inside. This should be a unique
experience for me. After this , I guess around 11:30am (est), I will
start operating at the light. This light is very unique in that it was
manned mostly by female keepers and is known as the "ladies light." I
will also have to walk about a mile to get to this light so I will
operate my Elecraft K2 at 10w into my VBWFPA-100. This antenna is good
on 40m,20m and 30m. Ron, WB3AAL will also be operating his Kenwood
TS-50 at 100w on most bands using his VBWFPA-100 antenna. I will start
on 40m around 7.270mhz and then go to 20m around 14.270mhz. I hope this
helps you with the timing thing. If anyone wants a cw contact, please
email me as I love to operate cw too! If I receive enough requests for
cw contacts, I will send out a cw schedule.
Look for us on Friday, April 1st, at Concord Point Lighthouse too. Both
of these lights are excellent examples of "old style lights." That is
lighthouses built before there was a Lighthouse Commission established
in the US. I will also make a special Turkey Point Lighthouse Collage
for this special event and send out to all who would like one. Hope to
work many from a few Maryland lights!
