RE: K1 10 turn pot

I have an early K1 #00427. My tuning pot shaft over the years has got very
loose. I have been looking at a pot in the Allied Electronics catalog that
has a metal shaft with a metal bushing. Would there be any problem using
this pot?

Hi

I have done this on a number of K1's. I used a Bourns pot with a metal shaft. The part number from Mouser is 652-3540S-1-104. It cost about $15 with shipping. It has a much nicer feel than the stock pot and is more rugged if the knob takes a hit on the front. If you use a nut and lockwasher on the back rather than the plastic washer it will move the knob closer to the front panel. I think the knob looks better when mounted closer.
