Greetings All, ...Having made it to Page 44, after the initial power up to initialize the EEPROM (verified by the INFO 201 display), the K2 was turned off and then back on after a few seconds, and the display only gives me "ELE", not "ELECrAFt", as was to be expected...Furthermore,tapping the display switch once did not show the supply voltage and current, which is from a battery (12.67vdc @ 7A.).. .."ELE" remains in display. Also, the bar graph to the left of LCD is not illuminated, but should I expect it to without any signals at this stage of construction? ...It looks like trouble shooting code "060" might be applicable for "...partial(incomplete)display", which is not specifically addressed. The relays do appear to activate when K2 is turned on. ANY past problem solving tips to help locate the area of the "glitch" will be greatly appreciated. I am sure there will be more as the project progresses. I read the mail every day, so anything that helps to get the K2 closer to completion helps ease the pain of waiting for the third wave K3 distribution...............73, Tim KE5LYT ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better Globetrotter. Tim,
IIRC, that 'ELE' indication is a sign that pin 1 of the front panel 40 pin socket has not been soldered. Peer under the LCD to see if that condition is present. If pin 1 is not soldered, it is almost impossible to solder it from the bottom without removing the LCD (don't try that unless there is no other choice). Fortunately, one can solder the socket pin from the to of the board - it requires that you carve away a small bit of the socket plastic next to the pin to be soldered so you can get the soldering tip onto the pin and its solder pad. Solder can be applied either from the bottom (snaking the solder under the LCD) or if you removed enough plastic, you can apply the solder from the top of the board. If U1 pin 1 is not the problem, be confident that you have an unsoldered (or poorly soldered connection somewhere on the front panel board, and your challenge is to find and fix it. 73, Don W3FPR Tim Koehl wrote: > Per Rev.G,May 29,2007 Manual > Greetings All, > ...Having made it to Page 44, after the initial power > up to initialize the EEPROM (verified by the INFO 201 > display), the K2 was turned off and then back on after > a few seconds, and the display only gives me "ELE", > not > "ELECrAFt", as was to be > expected...Furthermore,tapping > the display switch once did not show the supply > voltage > and current, which is from a battery (12.67vdc @ > 7A.).. > .."ELE" remains in display.
