Hello all,
I've been hiking with my qrp gear for a few years now, but always
thought it would be nice to hike light. When I hike I always seem
to carry around 40lbs on my back - no more!
For the past month or two I've taken to weight every piece of gear that
goes into my pack and the pack. This turned out to be an eye-opener!
Especially the qrp radio gear!
I've dropped over 5lbs of radio gear. Here's how I lost the weight:
K1 to KX1 setup - lost 1.0lb
No coax - lost 1.0lb
2.2AH SLA battery to Poly-Ion 2.2AH lost 1.5lbs
New antenna - lost 2.0 lbs
***I have to get rid of almost 2lbs yet?***
Backpack - 3.00lbs (2lb savings)
Sleeping Bag - 2.75lbs
Tent w/grd cloth- 1.80lbs
Radio gear - 1.60lbs (5.30lbs savings)
Sleep pad - 1.60lbs
Tent stakes - .50lbs
Platypus H2O 2L - 4.40lbs
Bear bag& Stove - 2.00lbs
Food 3-day - 2.00lbs (4lbs savings)
Rain Poncho - .60lbs
Water Filter - 1.50lbs
Wash items - .50lbs
Matches etc. - .13lbs
Extra shirt etc.- .75lbs
Fleece - 1.50lbs
Medical Kit - 1.12lbs
Total to date - 26.83lbs *25lb limit* OVER!!!
