RE: WA3WSJ Weighing-in Limit 25lbs

WA3WSJ
Hello all,

I've been hiking with my qrp gear for a few years now, but always
thought it would be nice to hike light. When I hike I always seem
to carry around 40lbs on my back - no more!

For the past month or two I've taken to weight every piece of gear that
goes into my pack and the pack. This turned out to be an eye-opener!
Especially the qrp radio gear!

I've dropped over 5lbs of radio gear. Here's how I lost the weight:

K1 to KX1 setup - lost 1.0lb
No coax - lost 1.0lb
2.2AH SLA battery to Poly-Ion 2.2AH lost 1.5lbs
New antenna - lost 2.0 lbs

***I have to get rid of almost 2lbs yet?***

Backpack     -    3.00lbs (2lb savings)
Sleeping Bag -    2.75lbs
Tent w/grd cloth- 1.80lbs
Radio gear -      1.60lbs (5.30lbs savings)
Sleep pad -       1.60lbs
Tent stakes -      .50lbs
Platypus H2O 2L - 4.40lbs
Bear bag& Stove - 2.00lbs
Food 3-day -      2.00lbs (4lbs savings)
Rain Poncho -      .60lbs
Water Filter -    1.50lbs
Wash items -       .50lbs
Matches etc. -     .13lbs
Extra shirt etc.-  .75lbs
Fleece -          1.50lbs
Medical Kit -     1.12lbs
Total to date -   26.83lbs   *25lb limit* OVER!!!
