Very disappointed to see NO cw operations on Armed Forces Day.
I remember the fun of working NSS, AIR and WAR on cw and getting their QSL card. Had hoped to hear them pounding brass again. It was also fun to copy the Sec. of Def.'s Broadcast on CW and get a certificate for that. I was planning on re-joining MARS until I saw that they do not do CW any more. Why bother now? 73 de N5BZ, ex AFB5DQP & NNN0QBS (also ex WA5DQP/AA5DQP & WB5GVL) > Message: 14 > Date: Fri, 11 May 2007 22:04:12 -0400 > From: John Harper <[hidden email]> > Subject: [Elecraft] RE:MARS > To: Elecraft <[hidden email]> > Message-ID: <000301c79439$d62f4fa0$ffedc644@JOHN> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=iso-8859-1; > reply-type=original > >> >Interesting to see some old Navy Mars call signs. Yes....I remember re-arranging all the chairs on the Titantic to be able to work all the MARS HQ stations in as many modes as I had...and sending/getting QSLs for the exercise. The next step will be when there are none of us that did that around...and like commercial telegraphers, the memories will ony what someone has written. > > I was planning on re-joining MARS until I saw that they do not do CW any > more. Why bother now? Well, you could go back into the bugy whip shop and turn out a few...me, I am heating up the forge to make some button hooks. 73,Thom-k3hrn www.zerobeat.net Home of QRP Web Ring, Drakelist home page,Drake Web Ring, QRP IRC channel, Drake IRC Channel, Elecraft Owners Database www.tlchost.net/hosting/ *** Web Hosting as low as 3.49/month _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
