RG6 Snap & Seal connectors

Mike B-12
In one of the earlier transmission line threads, someone posted that they liked
the Thomas & Betts "Snap & Seal" connectors, but my search of the archive
doesn't turn up any hits.

Could that person (or others) let me know what tool they use to install them?
Generic hex crimper, dedicated model, etc.?  There are many out there, and I'm
trying to get a feel for what's required or recommended.

73,

Mike

RE: RG6 Snap & Seal connectors

Hi Mike,
I bought my T&B "Snap & Seal" connectors, stripper and tool at Home Depot.
It works well and easy to use. You don't use a crimper with these type
connectors.

Re: RG6 Snap & Seal connectors

I haven't seen the T&B stuff at my local Home Depot, but they had
Ideal and Data Shark oompression connectors and tools.  I believe
they are all interchangeable, although I doubt if anyone other than
Thomas & Betts makes the BNC versions (which you probably couldn't
find at Home Depot anyway).  The compression type is much better than
crimp.

Oops. Error on my part. I have the Ideal stuff, not T&B.

Re: RG6 Snap & Seal connectors

As far as I know, all of the compression-type connectors are the same(Ideal,
T&B,ICC) meaning they are interchangeable. They are superior to crimp-style,
and they DO make them in 50-ohm versions.

Re: RG6 Snap & Seal connectors

Mike B-12
Thanks to all for the information on compression tools for the RG6 cable.

Now to score some direct burial cable scraps from the cable guy...
