OK, I have a repeat of a question about RTTY. My K3 (ser # 281) won't
receive RTTY in AFSK or FSK modes. However, it receives RTTY just fine in USB. I just went through the AFSK RTTY setup instructions in Fred's wonderful book, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I'm convinced the issue is between the chair and the keyboard, but don't have enough experience with RTTY to know what I'm doing wrong. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Here are some of the details people are likely to want to know: K3 is in Data mode and set to AFSK A. CONFIG: LineIn is set to 10. Frequency and Shift are set to 2125 and 170 Hz, respectively. I'm using DM780 as my digital software. I have the K3's Line Out run to my computer's Line In, and the K3's Line In run to the computer's Line Out. The computer is a fully updated version of Windows 7 32-bit. I'll gladly provide any other details as requested. Thanks for the help again. 73, -- Ian Ian Kahn, KM4IK Roswell, GA EM74ua [hidden email] K3 #281, P3 #688 HRD v5.x/6.0 Test Team ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

IIRC, DM780 always expects USB, so you will need to use its REVERSE control with AFSK A ... or you could use the ALT (hold MODE-Down) control on the K3 to make AFSK A use USB. 73, ~iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Do you hear anything in AFSK mode? You say you can rec've in SSB mode, what
do you hear in AFSK mode? When you say " won't receive RTTY in AFSK or FSK modes" exactly what do you mean? Is it a K3 problem, or a DM780 problem? If you use FSK D mode, and have decode turned on, you should be able to hear, and tune so that you can see the text decode in the VFO B area of the display. Have you tried any other software? Like Fldigi, or MMTTY? ...bill nr4c -----Original Message----- From: Ian Kahn - Ham [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2012 3:56 PM To: Elecraft Reflector Subject: [Elecraft] RTTY Questions, Again OK, I have a repeat of a question about RTTY. Try reverse polarity in DM780. You should see reverse on top left bar. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Ian Kahn - Ham Sent: Monday, 20 August 2012 5:56 AM To: Elecraft Reflector Subject: [Elecraft] RTTY Questions, Again OK, I have a repeat of a question about RTTY. DM780: The default RTTY setting is 45.45 baud, 170Hz shift. In Europe RTTY is generally send using USB irrespective of the frequency. Reverse In North America LSB is used on 7Mhz and below, hence the Reverse button. All,
I've got it working now, at least on 20m AFSK A! I think the reverse polarity in DM780 was the issue. Now to replicate on other bands! Thank you to everyone for your help. 73, --Ian Ian Kahn, KM4IK Roswell, GA EM74ua [hidden email] K3 #281, P3 #688 HRD v5.x/6.0 Test Team On Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 4:39 PM, Adrian <[hidden email]> wrote: > > DM780: > > The default RTTY setting is 45.45 baud, 170Hz shift. > > In Europe RTTY is generally send using USB irrespective of the frequency. > > Reverse > > In North America LSB is used on 7Mhz and below, hence the Reverse button. > > Try reverse polarity in DM780.
