at the risk of revealing my ignorance. I wish to know how to set up my
K3/10 to do  RTTY. Needed software, K3 settings, sub-bands etc,.

first I'd just like to get the K3 to decode rtty so I could read it

RC,

I would start using AFSK data mode and MMTTY software - just two cables
between the soundcard and the K3, just like other soundcard audio modes.
See the K3 manual for the setup information.  Be certain the K3 and MTTY
are set to the same mark pitch.
