Reading about the topic, and thinking about the VHF contest this w/e makes
me think of my transverter wish list. I think a great addition to the line would be a 100 W, 2 meter linear to follow the 10 W internal transverter. I would look for the following features: 1. Simple and inexpensive -- bells and whistles not needed. 2. No receive preamp needed. 3. careful design of TR switching to avoid loss during receive as found in some other units. Nothing magic about 100 W, except it should be compatible with power supplies used for the K3/100. It could have a 3 dB transmit input pad to make it work with the standalone unit and increase applicability to other units as well. Someday, there could be a version for mast mounting with waterproof enclosure, low gain preamp and switching over the coax -- but I'm not ready for that. I would like that to go with my XV144 right now - an Elecraft PA to it would be great. And in UK, 100W is the top power in most restricted class sections of our RSGB VHF+ contests.
