Re: ENOUGH ALREADY

Gil WA5YKK
Gents 'n other OMs;

I see enough childish squabbling in other reflector lists that waste
my download time as is, so please grow up about "who gets their K3
sooner"! What I'm interested in is the really important items of
carrying cases, how to tweak the K2 circuits, et all. Right now, I'm
cleaning up my various operating areas, moving with arthritis that makes
CW practice on the Hexkey difficult, and waiting for the weather to
allow antennas to be put up. If anyone has a "cure" for the soft legs on
the Hexkey, I could use a hint. I seem to recall solid plastic legs
someplace, but that was long ago. It's going to take awhile to solve a
lot of problems, get CW going again, but this return to the original
mode will be worth it. I'll be looking for comments on the K3, as I
contemplate ordering one.

Thanks for any ideas, got a lot of work to do "way down south" here!

Hexkey item and a caution

Ken Kopp
Gil, others ...

I'm likely the one who made the post about firmer
feet for the HexKey.  It badly needs them!

I happened to have some identical feet in my stock,
except that they were firmer.  Changing the feet to
the firmer ones completely changed the key's behavior!
It's now the key I expected it to be ... wonderful.  Before
the foot change I was planning on listing it on eBay.

Radio Scrap sells a couple of versions of "firm" feet.
One is their #64-2342 and there are others.  They
are square and attach with peel-and-stich adhesive.
The same products are sold in the "big box" stores and
I think at WalMart.  If you choose to use these adhesive
feet, be sure to clean the area where they will mount with
alcohol or other cleaner so they will adhere securely.

Use caution when turning the key over onto it's back!
The top of the square post -WILL BE- scratched unless
you place the key on a soft cloth.  The fix ... a new
post ... is costly and no fun to replace!

If anyone DOES anticipate replacing the post, I suggest
you contact me for tips gained from my experience.

I feel that Bencher should place a caution note printed on
orange or red paper about the potential for scratching atop
the key in every box they package.
