I am building a XV144 transciever for connection to my K3. I have never used a transverter before. In reading the construction manual and the operators manual I conclude that when I switch to 10 meters on the K3 that the xv144 is switched in, the K3 display will indicate in the 144 mHz range and I will be tx & rx on 2 meters. How then do I operate on 10 meters? Do I have to disconnect the xv144? I don't see any instructions re. this situation?? PJH,
See the "Using Transverters" section of the K3 manual. You do not have to lose 10 meters at all. You can set the K3 XVx (ON, RF, IF, PWR, OFS, and ADR) menu entries to the RF band that you need (144). The IF for the XV144 to 28, the PWR to match your settings in the XV144, the OFS (offset) to compensate for any errors in the XV144 local oscillator, and ADR to whichever transverter band you wish to use - the switch in the XV144 and the TRN number should agree. If you have the KXV3 (or KXV3A) in your K3, you would connect the 28 MHz IF to the transverter input and output - configure the XV144 for a split IF. Without the KXV3, you will need to connect and disconnect the K3 antenna to feed the 28 MHz signal to the XV144, and you would have to use a common 28 MHz TR/RX cable to the XV144. Things are much easier with the KXV3 in the K3. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/30/2014 12:57 PM, P.J.Hicks wrote: > > I am building a XV144 transciever for connection to my K3.
