Re: Elecraft K-3 sub receiver question

Art Suberbielle

I have been using the 2 receivers with the same antennas on all bands. In the last couple of days, I have used the 2 receivers extensively chasing the K4M gang.

I have noticed more than a little difference in signal strength when using dual receivers. In fact, today on 40m it appears that the signal was down 1 to 2 S units on the main receiver when sub was activated. When I listened and switched to "Split" there was no difference from listening on Main alone since in this setting only the transmit VFO was on the B setup.

On 30 m with a weak signal from K4M, using both receivers simultaneously caused the signal to drop so low I couldn't copy. Turnd off the Sub, and could hear the signal on Main alone.

Wayne, is there any way to add gain in some manner as you offer with the gain settings to compensate for filter loss?
