Before I insulated my backstay I used Hamsticks on the stearn. Since I
don't have a copper plate on the hull I threaded 33ft of insulated
tinned wire through poly rope with a small float on the end and let it
trail in the water for a ground. Over salt water you don't need an
elaborate antenna system for good results! I would think that the
suggested vertical wire hoisted aloft would also give good results.
