If you use a dipole or other horizontally polarized antenna near the
edge
of cliff you will have a very low take off angles (comparable to a
vertical over salt
water) so it is possible to work some pretty good DX. Also having a
clear,
unobstructed view of the horizon helps a lot. Vertical monopoles with
ground
mounted radials often don't work that great in these sorts of
environments due
to the poor soil conductivity resulting from the rocky terrain.
