Re:External reference freq

Hi Wayne,

If you use the external 10Mhz signal, does this mean that you don't need the TCXO ?

Congrats to the Elecraft crew for a fine job

Even the standard K3 comes with a TCXO, so you'll always have one.

The external reference option, when plugged in, will work with the TCXO.

Note that the external reference module is not completed and may not be
available at time of first shipments. But it'll be easy to install
yourself once it arrives. Pricing hasn't been set.

Hi David,

It locks the entire radio to an external lab-standard reference signal.
This is certainly not required, but some hams like to have extreme
tuning accuracy for automated operations, such as clicking on DX spots.

you can homebrew a nice gps locked standard. there have been a couple of qst
or qex articles on it. google "brooks shera".

you can get a spiffy gps receiver module and antenna with a "ham discount"
from http://www.synergy-gps.com/.

And the VE2ZAZ article from QEX and his website.  I bought this kit from
him but still need to integrate it.  Less than $100 invested so far, oh,
but I need to build a GPS antenna yet unless I just break down and buy one.
