First I must emphasise that I am *not* an Elecraft junky - junkies check
Elecraft's web page when asked by the XYL for a new washing machine 'just in case'. But I have just finished the KX-1 and am *more* than impressed. And I really enjoyed building it (no smoke, flames or burnt fingers). Question: just how good is the K1's receiver? I am thinking about taking a radio to the Isle of Man with me when I go there on holiday (I am also GD4ELI). Also I travel a bit to Finland visiting customers. The K1 does look very attractive, easy to pack, add a simple PSU / 3Ah batteries, Kent paddles, nice pole and I am off. But I have the KX-1 - so I don't need the K1 as well - or do I? But I haven't had as much fun in the last 20 years as I did building the KX-1. The replies are flooding in (mainly private mail), so far the advice is
split evenly between: [1] Yes, [2] No, [3] Therapy will not help. So do I build a K1 over the Christmas holidays or write more software? Or save my money for the K3 (DC to daylight)? You've given generously of your time writing software.
Have a break and do something for yourself. Smell the flux and build a radio. Well, the selfish answer is that you should write code, which would benefit all of us ;-) But considering the season, I think we should all give you the gift of time to relax and build a K1. 73, Larry N8LP Simon Brown (HB9DRV) wrote: > The replies are flooding in (mainly private mail), so far the advice > is split evenly between: > > [1] Yes, > [2] No, > [3] Therapy will not help. > > So do I build a K1 over the Christmas holidays or write more software? > > Or save my money for the K3 (DC to daylight)? > > Simon Brown > --- > www.hb9drv.ch www.laax.ch > > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Simon Brown (HB9DRV)" > <[hidden email]> > > >> First I must emphasise that I am *not* an Elecraft junky - junkies >> check Elecraft's web page when asked by the XYL for a new washing >> machine 'just in case'. I can quit any time -- I just don't want to.
