Biaural-Pseudo Stereo-spatial
are some names given to technics, where mono is transformed to stereo.
Simplest is RC/CR net where 3db-points of Left and Right channels coincide.
Here we have amplitude split. Published studies for specially CW and
FONE filters
used to have OpAmp filters to make it steeper.
TV receivers used Pseudo Stereo and is seen here :
http://www.datasheetcatalog.net/datasheets_pdf/T/D/A/3/TDA3810.shtmlThis system keeps frequency response unchanged, but change other
channels phase.
Difference is 0 near low-end. It increases to near 1ms near 600-800Hz (CW)
and goes to 0 again in high frequences (1500-2500).
In free air sound velocity of 300 m/s this 1ms is about the same as
distance of our ears.
The feeling is "opening" of band. "That station is to the left".
I have used this system for 20 years, and am happy to have it in K3.
Still the best processor in reception in between our ears!
