This is not a cabling issue, and no procedure listed in the manual
works. I cannot get the radio to come on at all except to get the flashing red TX LED and the unbacklighted "MCU LD" indication when powered up. I have tried the Parameter Initialization procedure listed on page 61 of the manual, and I have tried holding the power button down for ten seconds while powering up. Neither of these yields any different results. Looks like I'm out of a K3 until I can call Elecraft tomorrow. My K3 is frozen after attempting to load the latest firmware. The red TX LED is blinking and the display reads "MCU LD" with no back lighting. No buttons respond, and removing and reapplying power brings back the same frozen state. I have searched previous emails on this reflector, and have found no workable solutions. Any ideas? The K3 communicated OK with the computer prior to attempting the firmware update. I've gotten myself into that state a few times, which is quite unnerving! I believe I did this by accidentally interrupting the download process. The solution may be patience. Make sure you have a good serial hardware connection, that your K3 Utility is open to the update page and then power cycle the K3. Then WAIT.... Mine has always recovered but I honestly can't accurately describe how I got into the state...or out of it, but I've always succeeded. 73 & GL! Bill |
