Second the Powerwerx recommendation, small and quiet. I previously had two 1225 Samlex power supplies. Both died early, first one under warranty. HRO sent the unit in for repair (apparently in Canada), took over a month to get a replacement supply. That unit failed soon after the 90 day replacement warranty. I gave up with them after I couldn't find a tech support person who could help. Lots of K3'ers seem to use them successfully, however. YMMV

Well, shucks. Maybe I'll have to buy one of 'em. The Samlex 1235 is
still going strong here, but can't have too many PSU's around! 73, matt W6NIA On Wed, 12 Jun 2013 16:51:46 -1000, you wrote: >Second the Powerwerx recommendation, small and quiet. I use the Samlex exclusively because I do a lot of island jumping and need
something small and light. I've had mine on several islands, made tens of thousands of contacts with it in heat and odd voltages. Just keeps ticking. Dr. William J. FWIW, I've had my Samlex on 24/7 for about 4 years now. This is
approx. 32,000 hours with no malfunctions. The 1235 outputs into a transfer switch and the other input comes from a solar charge controller with 100W of PV on the roof. The transfer switch feeds an Optima D31 75AH battery, which feeds everything else in the shack. "Just keeps ticking" is my observation too, but even before today I've heard of support issues. There were several mentions of this problem in private emails back to me. I've not experienced this myself, but I've never needed to contact Samlex (well... yet). Still - can't have too many power supplies! Around here, the rest of my supplies are Astron (RS50, RS35, RS20, RS11 switcher). Don't use 'em much any more.... And they are reliable but very heavy, except for the switcher. 73, matt W6NIA QRP Ranch :) Upland, CA. I've never heard of a 1225 but have a 1223 and a 1235. I have both and they
have been running strong 27/7 for just about 7 years never a single problem. But I do have proper voltage to run them also. QST did find them a best buy and not long ago either I can attest to that also and no noise. I seems like you must have some sort of problem on your end as I know a lot of people with and no problems with them either. In fact I spoke to a dealer and he told me they have the least amount of returns on them than any other power supply in its class. -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Matt Zilmer Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2013 9:55 PM To: Randy Cook Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 Power Supply Well, shucks.
