Re: KREF3 External Reference Option

Edward R Cole
One of my prime considerations choosing the K3 was for the Ext.
Ref.  For the interim, I decided on the high accuracy 1/2-ppm
TCXO-3.  I am pretty happy with it as is, but will get the external
option when it becomes available since I have a master freq.
reference OCXO for the station and a Rubidium standard for my
frequency counter (good to 26-GHz).  I am QRV 600m to 3cm. and will
add 24-GHz in the near future.

I am required to have <1 Hz error on 495.053 KHz under my WD2XSH/45
license.  I have a DDS synthesizer with that accuracy/stability and
the K3 is dead on with it.

So Nige, do not be put off by this issue if it is what is deciding
you against the K3.

Re: KREF3 External Reference Option

Nige
I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm to convince me and was warmed by an off-list message from Wayne but as I explained to Wayne, my Flex is accurate to less than 0.03 Hz @ 50 MHz and the suggested specification for the KREF3 is about 1Hz @ 20 MHz. That is an order of magnitude away from what I consider acceptable when driven by a Reference to 10e-14/H.

I'll keep watching the evolution of this in case the boys at Ele can work their magic.

All the best,

Nige.
