David, I had a similar problem with the powerpole connector being too loose.
The problem was that my solder connection enlarged the contact to where it
would not push all the way into the plastic shell. You can tell if it is
properly seated by the way the contact clicks into place within the shell.
Also, the small leaf spring inside the shell will be completely covered by
the contact as viewed from the outside. I tried forcing the contact into the
shell but that was like pushing a rope - if it won't push in easily it's not
going in. Mine worked after filing away solder from the outside of the
contact. The shape and fit are real tight. A proper crimping tool would be
