Hi Tom,

First see if all of your BFO settings are close to these:

CAL FIL BFO settings:

FL1 FL2 FL3 FL4

LSB 4913.74 4913.85 4913.37 4913.23

USB 4916.43 4916.35 4915.72 4915.58

CW N 4913.60 4913.08 4913.01 4912.96

CW R 4914.79 4914.48 4914.46 4914.34
All settings is pretty close to mine

Each rig will be a little different when best aligned. But the settings
should be close to these. The RF output should be the same when you whistle
in both USB/LSB mode as it is in TUNE or CW. Make small adjustments to the
FL1=OP1 CAL FIL BFO settings until the transmitted SSB sounds best when
monitored on another rig using headphones to listen to the K2's SSB TX
signal. See the bottom of page 22 of the KSB2 manual for more about this.
This is how I did it also.

Ground the mic jack as shown at to prevent RF pickup and feedback:
http://www.elecraft.com/Apps/k2_microphone_jack_grounding.htm
I have to looked into this , but my antenna is far away and grounded.
I get good audioreports from 40-10. Sounds good on second RX also.
80 meter is good up to abt. 20watts and still clear up to 100watts , but I can hear something is getting into the audio.

No mods is done to the ksb2

The fan running when you whistle seems like RF is getting into the KPA100
control circuits. Make sure all of the paint was removed from the chassis
panels where the 2D fasteners attach, and from where the KPA100 PA shield
grounding clips make contact. The 2 solder lugs should also be installed
between the corner screw of the KPA100 PA shield and the top outside corner
screw of the SO-239 antenna connector.
All done and checked.
Problem persist with kpa100 laying beside K2 also.
I also discovered that K2 current in display is abt.3amps directly after bandchange and wan't settle down before I speak and adjust down at same time.
Then when I adjust to max again power out has settled at 110watts and K2 current is below 2.amps.
CW workes smothly as it should.
On CW I can sett power to 30watts and switch between 40 and 80 and power will stay att 30watts.
Doing the same in SSB will cause the rig to give full blow out until I adjust down and then up again while talking.
On 40 and 80 something is not right.
Barefoot 15 watts has always sounded good. So also on 100 watts , just bearly hearable changes on 80 as power go to 100watts.
160 on dummy work good on all modes.
I just can't see what would make the problem on ssb and not cw as the power control act on same line?
Any thoughts?
I kinda get a little on my edge when powermeter shows almost 200watts on a 100watt PA when transmitting into 1:1swr.
It then draws about 25 amps. ooops!
