NO PROBLEM PAL!  I don't think I've had much 'traffic' this month, so it
was no biggie at all!

Thanks(!) to all the folks who kindly advised me of the numerous busted
links (it WAS 1 am when I finally got things moved over, I was about 95%
asleep at tht time), I think I've now fixed ALL of the busted links.  Guess
time will tell (again).  Please try once more, and I sincerely apologize
for your wasted effort previously.

My new web site have such horrendously gigantic upload/download quotas that
I don't think I'll EVER exceed them, so have at it!

Alignment and test part II

Rich McCabe
Well we are moving right along.  Just got to the Second aliignment and test
section na dthe 4 mhz osc calibration went fine. The PLL reference range
test looked good and the range was right in the middle of the road. But when
I plugged the freq probe in TP1 and did a cal factor to check the VCO is
says 000000.

I am going though all my assembly now to make sure I did not miss anything.
Can anyone think of any common mistakes I might be overlooking?

Thanks and 73,

Rich

Re: Alignment and test part II

Don Brown-4
Hi

The most common problem is with the is T5. Make sure it is wound right and the leads are stripped properly.

Re: Alignment and test part II

Rich,

Be certain the frequency counter probe is still working by plugging it into
TP3 again, then --
Check T5 to be certain you have well tinned leads and good solder joints.
Then check the orientation of D13.  Check soldering on all components shown
in the schematic  VFO section (RF board sheet 1 of 4), and while you are at
it, check the components for proper values.

If all the above is correct, the VFO should oscillate (and produce an
indication on the frequency counter).  Try the probe on pin 3 of U3 to see
if you get anything there, if so, you should have a good frequency reading
at TP1 unless U3 is not working correctly.

Re: Alignment and test part II

Rich McCabe
This group is awesome :)

Yea I was being stupid !!

Was so particular about winding the torroids and then when I installed T5
reversed it. So now I have a signal..

Thanks Don, Don and Tom !
