For sake of brevity, I'll restate my problem as inability to
successfully connect my KAT500 tuner to my Mac mini. It turned out to
be 100% cockpit error with my hands on the stick.
To avoid my issue: Plug the KAT500 end of the KXUSB into the PC DATA
port, not the TUNE port. Take the extra five minutes to find the
flashlight before plugging in :-) You also need to know exactly which
physical and logical USB port you've connected to on the computer end.
Last, tell the KAT500 Utility which USB port is at the other end
before anything else with the Utility. You'll smile when you see what
KAT500/Utility can do.
My thanks to Gary W2CS and David W4SMT (Utility's author) for their
pinpoint suggestions for problem resolution. They didn't even audibly
snicker when they learned of my hose-up.
