Re:Mike plug for K2

I just recovered from the wild goose chase instigated by a parted ptt
connection within the RS mike plug which I installed on the old Icom VHF  mike which
I've been using quite effectively on K2/100 5087. Can anyone  recommend
another plug which has a more extended spring or flexible tube to help  isolate the
plug connections from cord-flexing?

I had a similar problem with my mobile mic.
Where the cable comes out of the mike plug,
I put several layers of heat shrink tubing to
make a boot of sorts.  The inner tubing piece
was longest, thenext a bit shorter, and the last
shorter yet.  This made a supportive but
flexible boot on the cable and prevented a
lot of trouble.  I did not heat treat the shrink
tubing, but left it as it came from the box.

There is a new mic plug from Heil that might be of interest - definitely more up market than the usual
range of plugs.
