Thanks Vic, Don, David and Peter for replies. But yesterday I found
the root cause. I'll summarize quickly the chain of events as maybe some others are blind as me. 1. I had removed the 6khz filter when I got the radio, as I wasn't going to use it. 2. The previous user had apparently used the radio in ESSB mode indicated by that little "+" sign in the bottom RH corner of the screen. 3. Config menu item "TX ESSB" was set to ON. With ESSB mode "ON" the radio over-rides the FLtx SB setting used for LSB and USB (which we had all focused on), and shifts to the required 6khz filter for ESSB transmit. And without that filter installed and enabled in the radio we get the error. I turned ESSB off, and the USB and LSB work just fine. Thanks again Ron N5QQ On Mon, Nov 22, 2010 at 9:22 PM, Don Wilhelm <[hidden email]> wrote: > TXF error indicates a Transmit Filter error. Use K3 Utility to examine > your filter configuration. Ron,
That would have been difficult to spot via email. Sometimes it just takes looking in the K3 and at the menu settings to figure something like that out. That is one of the frustrations that can be encountered when you buy someone else's radio. Figuring out how they had it set up and why is often difficult. That is why I recommend a complete reading of the manual (especially the menu section) for any used radio that one purchases. Happy Thanksgiving. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/25/2010 10:51 AM, [hidden email] wrote: > Thanks Vic, Don, David and Peter for replies. But yesterday I found > the root cause.
