I agree. Although I did not have this problem with the K2, I did have an open-circuit on a toroid lead on the HFPacker amp I just finished and had to heat up the soldering station again.
Always always ALWAYS pull out your ohm meter after putting in toroids and test whether you have circuit continuity. Don't test from the joint you just soldered (the one that attached the toroid); pull out the schematic and test from another point that you see should be connected to it. I did this religiously all through the K2 build and had no problems whatsoever with bad joints.
