Well... I have a Luke 40 amp supply. It cost way more than an Astron
and it's been on, except for power outages, for about fourteen years or
so... They don't make them anymore, but if you can find one used...get
it!
It has a large switchable digital readout...for V-in, V-out, and I-out,
and I think I paid about $275 for it...fourteen years ago...built like a
proverbial tank, way heavier than the cheap-O supplies hams often
have(yes...I thinking Astron here...).
And yup...it DOES put out 40 A without the slightest sign of sag. There
is no fan and it stays cool most of the time, until you suck large
amounts of current out of it, and then it gets slightly warm, like a
fresh chocolate-chip cookie...
