Hi Dale,
No there hasn't been any new updates since 1.1.4.1. It's odd that 1.1.4.1 would report that you need to install a new version unless you had the utility pointing to a firmware folder containing an older version of K3UtilityVersionInfo.txt. Make sure you have the most current firmware files downloaded from the Elecraft server in your firmware folder. This is the first time I've heard of a kernel panic (or hard crash). I'm running 10.5.3 without problems. If it should happen again, try to recall the steps you took to cause the crash to occur and let me know. Thanks, David, W4SMT --- dalej <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have had a couple of serious hangs on the K3 > utility in the last > couple days after not having used it in some time, > they were in fact > so bad it caused what appeared to be a kernel panic, > I couldn't even > force quit it, and when I went to restart the > computer, it wouldn't > force quit it then either! David, do you know if there will be an update to
the Mac utility to bring it in line with the Windows version? My K3 is less than a week old and I used 1.1.4.1 to load firmware 2.02 successfully but wonder if 1.1.6.3 has some advantages. Gary W7TEA

Hi Gary,
The Windows version has a few features that are not yet available in the Mac version. One being a filter configuration screen that allows you to setup the filters without having to do it manually. It also has a terminal screen that allows sending and receiving CW/RTTY/PSK from within the utility. These features are under development in the Mac version but not yet available. If you have either Parallels or VMWare Fusion running on your Mac, you can successfully run the Windows version of the utility on your Mac! Congrats on getting the new K3! Thanks David! I've used Parallels to update
my Omni VII. The K3 utility interface is very nice. I thought I saw a filters configuration page on the Mac version but didn't play with it. 73, Gary W7TEA <quote author="David Fleming-2"> Hi Gary, The Windows version has a few features that are not yet available in the Mac version.
