Here is how I see it from a non-contester, non-dx-er point of view...
Sun-Spots are on the increase.
Conditions are improving.
Signals *will* get stronger and more of them.
So my criteria basically are:-
a) If the noise increases when I connect my antenna, then the receiver
sensitivity is good enough for me.
b) if my AGC is not 'pumped, by another signal 2-5 Khz away, then the
selectivity is good enough for me.
lastly, and MOST important...
c) if the noise reduction circuitry can dramatically reduce the man-made
and atmospheric noise to where I can here a weak signal without getting a
headache, then I'm happy...
Perhaps my views might change if I ever get involved in contesting or
serious DX'ing... we]ll see 8^))
