Congrats on being a new K3 owner Paul. The thin sound may be due to the
narrow window that the K3 filtering places over the signal. By shifting this
window you can cover more or less of the highs and lows of the signal,
whichever is more desirable to your ears.

Before tweaking the RX EQ I would suggest adjusting the "Hi cut" and "Lo
cut". You may be surprised.

As far as RX EQ is concerned, it seems that most hams prefer to minimize the
first 2 and last 2 frequency bands, but that's based on personal preference,
trial & error.

Cookie, Hector, Fred and all the rest
tu for the replies. I will try all ur suggestions. I guess the best way to get audio the way I like is experimenting. This rig is awesome......you CAN teach an ol' dog nu trix!! rig's speaker is better after tweaking, stereo Heil headset is much better, neeed to solder up a cable for stereo speakers and also need to order Yamaha headset. (Heil is to heavy and tight for me)

Paul -
I just weighed my Heil ProSet and the Yamaha CM-5000. SURPRISE! The Heil
is 239 grams, the Yamaha is 293. I don't find a lot of difference in the
tightness either either.

Re: RXEQ

Mike Reublin
There's half the price of a filter! The muffs on the Yamaha are a tad
bigger, tho.

Enjoy the K3.

Re: RXEQ

AD4C2009
In reply to this post by Mike Reublin
The tighness might be the same perhaps but the performance of the CM-500 is superior and the price is less than half.
