Re Steppers

Bob Whelan
Hi

I have used these 4 coil steppers in a auto tuned amplifier.
The really simple way is to use a BASIC Stamp with a ULN2803A motor
driver chip. Have a look at page 99 of the BASIC Stamp Programming
Manual 1.9 .
I used steppers salvaged from a fax machine.
All the driver pulses are generated in software which can then be
integrated with the rest of your control routines.

Honey I melted my K2

Tony Wells
I suppose it had to happen sometime.

I've been testing some K2 software which operates the rig on tx and using it
with a dummy load which is a very old ethernet 50 ohm bnc terminator. It got
a little warm at 1 watt, but I inadvertantly ran it overnight at 10 watts.

This morning, the dummy load seems to have gone open circuit and melted the
BNC connector internal insulation.

Amazingly the rig and the BNC connector still works, but my embarassment is
greater than my parsimony and I'm going to have to change the connecton.

Are there any sources in the UK for the BNC type connector that goes on the
KAT2 - eg  with the black plastic threaded skirt?

Thanks

Tony

Re: Honey I melted my K2

Hi James,

Yes, Elecraft is clearly the plan B. It is bad enough to have to hunt for the key to my wallet - but to pay for the shipping from US for a $2 item requires a lot of Tylenol and long-term psychiatric therapy.:-)

Regards
