Re: "Tenna Dipper"

Robert C.Abell
Jean-Francois,

I would think that you would not be able to connect the "Tenna-Dipper"
to your K2 as Don has suggested.
The "Tenna-Dipper" uses a CW audio generator not a "visual" driver to
announce the frequency.
IMHO anyway, for what it's worth (not much).

pardon me for not keeping up with computer
slang (my preference is radio, heh heh)
but what does IMHO means???

I see it more often and it drives me crazy
not knowing what that means!

Some people who drive cars know nothing about them,
I use a computer and know nothing either! (smile)

Some quality sources for computer jargon:

The Jargon File: <http://catb.org/~esr/jargon/>

And the 2nd place to search (after google) for anything:

sorry to be picky :)

it's TANSTAAFL .. and the acronym was coined by Robert Heinlein ("The
Moon is a Harsh Mistress .. a *great* book) rather than having 'net
origins ...

Re: IMHO

Sorry to be even pickier...

Heinlein USED the term TANSTAAFL  in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"  in
1966. The term had been in common use in economics for more than a decade
before that.

I first ran across it as TINSTAAFL in economics classes in '61  (I have a
Masters in Economics), and at the time it was attributed to Prof. Alvin
Hansen a noted Harvard economist.  TINSTAAFL is "There is no such thing..."
so it is the same thing with proper grammar. I have seen it used as early as
the mid-50's. But TANSTAAFL precedes TINSTAAFL and goes back to the 40's
though I don't remember the context for that.

T*NSTAAFL is at the heart of economic and environmental issues. It's not
surprising it surfaced there first.
