I'm at the mercy of someone else's building skills then. But for a capacitor substitution like this, you can probably find what you need at a distributor, Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark, Allied, etc. Some of them may be able to let you search for a sub, within the physical envelope of the original. Before you mount the thing permanently, try just disconnecting and bridging in the sub. There could be other things failed.
