Excellent question, Richard! (So good I had to share it with the whole
Reflector!)
Using the "M"/"m" command toggles between Average and PEP as displayed
by the front panel LED's. The "N"/"n" command does the same to the
numbers that are sent out the Serial Port in response to a "F"/"f"
(Forward Power) command. While you could sit there using the Elecraft
W2 Utility to stand on the "F" key and watch the text values of the
Forward Power scroll down the screen, you really need some kind of
program that can take the text data and display it graphically. Sooooooo...
Within a week or so we will be releasing the PC VisualBasic side of the
W2 Watt Meter. This program will send a continuous stream of "F"
commands to the W2, and display the Forward Power on a bargraph much
like the W2. With this, you could set both LED's and Serial Data to the
same mode (Average or PEP), or have them different and compare the
visual results.
Stay tuned!
