Hi Paul,
As we speak, we're testing an experimental hardware fix that appears to be very effective, eliminating the need for RX NR and/or RX SHFT in most cases. If you'd like to try this change, please email customer support and we'll send you the instructions. It involves a minor modification to the KXFL3 module. Thanks, Wayne N6KR "Paul" <[hidden email]> wrote: > I googled KX3 Tuning Noise and saw a few reports in late 2012. There was a comment in very early release notes that it would be fixed. Hi Wayne,
how will that help people without the roofing filter? I've got one in mine and suffer tremendously from tuning noise :-( But a friend has one without the roofer and has the same problems although not as poor as on mine. But still VFO NR and 8 kHz shift does not fix it all ... 73, Olli - DH8BQA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayne Burdick" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]>; <[hidden email]>; "Elecraft Reflector" <[hidden email]> Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2013 2:19 AM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] What is status on tuning noise on KX3? > Hi Paul, > > As we speak, we're testing an experimental hardware fix that appears to be > very effective, eliminating the need for RX NR and/or RX SHFT in most > cases. But still VFO NR and 8 kHz shift does not fix it all … This is unusual, Oliver. In my experience, most KX3s without a KXFL3 have negligible VFO tuning noise, even on 6 meters, and for those that have more, the menu settings are usually very effective. Your friend could contact customer support for further ideas; for example they could explain how to use the built-in AF voltmeter function to quantify the amount of noise to see if it's unusually high. Since you have a KXFL3, you may want to try the mod (after we publish the instructions, hopefully very soon). 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
