"Home Depot carries a wide assortment of felt circles for use under table
legs or as bumpers for cabinet doors, etc. They have adhesive on one
side (which could face the knob), but if you don't like that the felt is
thick enough that you can actually shave off the adhesive with a sharp
razor."
Or if you want it thick, stick 'em together, face to face.
