Tnx for the suggestions guys. It was a cable problem. So obvious I should have seen it right off. Forest for the trees. I use a Y cable to feed the KPA500 & the PR6.After plugging & unplugging I just realized the other side of the Y cable had nothing plugged in. I pulled the black cable coming from the KPA500 & it was just dangling off the OP desk. Plugged it into the Y cable & everything back. Yahoo! I did realize I had just plugged the KPA500 cable into the Y cable and FORGOT to tighten the screws. My error for sure. Tnx agn guys. If this happens again I'll go to the cables right away. Not only when the exact same thing happens, but anytime something
strange happens, the first thing to check is the cables (including the coax). It happens so often. At the workbench, my 3 foot BNC to BNC cables get quite a workout from so many plugging/unplugging cycles - there are 3 or more cycles for every transceiver that I service, so the connectors get a lot of use. At the first sign of something strange, I substitute a different cable (I have learned my lessons long ago). That does remind me - in the next few days, I need to make up some more 3 foot cables, I am down to 3 known good ones. Always suspect the easy stuff first - it may be counter-intuitive, but it is the cause of problems more often than not. Telling on myself, I recently tried to check a KIO2 for communications with the computer, so I cranked up Ham Radio Deluxe to see if it would connect. It did not, so I spent some time trying to 'scope the communications path in the KIO2 - about half way through my tests, I glanced over at the computer and found the serial cable end on the desk. Yes, I had tested something else with that computer serial port and forgot to re-connect the normal test cable to the computer. I guess I am old enough to blame it on age, but just the same, that is only an excuse! :-) 73, Don W3FPR On 12/11/2012 6:44 PM, r miles wrote: > > I did realize I had just plugged the KPA500 cable into the Y cable > and FORGOT to tighten the screws.
