I'm heading to Anacapa Island in 3 weeks for the IOTA contest. Taking a 1 hour boat ride from Los Angeles to get there.
I've never taken my K3 out of my shack so I need recommendations on a case and proper packing to get it there safely and back. I heard Pelican was a good choice, and Frys has them locally. Is there a case that is water resistant and floats too? (little paranoid here!) Thanks for your help! Hi,
The Pelican iM2450 fits the K3 and a PSU, and was shown in the "How's DX" column in the May 2011 edition of QST. It think this is part of the 'Storm' range that they bought recently. The interior is stated as being 18.00" x 13.00" x 8.40" (45.7 x 33 x 21.3 cm). I've used Pelican's traditional range and Underwater Kinetics boxes for expensive video equipment and these are great. I'm confident that if Pelican put their name on the Storm case that it will also be good. The iM2400 Pelican Storm Case would probably fit too, but it is shorter (6.7"/17cm deep instead of 8.4"/21.3cm), but that still leaves room for the K3 and padding. The Pelican 1520 is similar in size to the iM2400 too at 18.06" x 12.89" x 6.72" (45.9 x 32.7 x 17.1 cm), and comes in more colours. The Pelican cases are watertight, and the 1520 is certified to IP67, so it is "Protected against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m". I think I might order one right now ... :-) Dave. -- David Ingram (VK4TDI) Brisbane, Queensland, Australia To avoid spam trap, send email to dave at ingramtech dot com GPG: B0731AED W: http://ingramtech.com/ MH: QG62lm On 9/07/2011 4:34, Jeff Hall wrote: > I'm heading to Anacapa Island in 3 weeks for the IOTA contest.
