Recommended sequence for adding options

PE3BB
Hi all,

I started to build the K2. Can anyone recommend a sequence for adding the
options:
- k2 noise blanker
- k2 SSB
- k2 rs232-i/o option
- k2 Audio filter and RTC
- k2 antenna tuner
- k2 160m & 2nd antenna option
- k2 internal battery option?

I appreciate all input.

best 73,
Bart PE3BB

Hi Bart,

I built 7 K2s in the past.  I would prefer the following sequence out of my
own personal preference:

1.    k2 noise blanker - it is the easiest to build.
2.    k2 160m & 2nd antenna option - again it is easy to build
3.    k2 internal battery operation - you can use battery to operate the rig
without going to an external power supply when you do the tests
4.    k2 SSB option - it is difficult than the above but give you an
additional mode of operation
5.    k2 rs 232, k2 audio filter and k2 antenna tuner - I put them the last
because I can operate the rig even without them.

Anyway, there is no fix rules in the sequence because the beauty of K2 is
that you can add most of the options at any time as you wish.

I would suggest....
1. KNB2 Noise blanker
2. K160RX 160m/2nd Ant
3. KSB2 SSB

Do those first, as they do not attached to the top cover.

then..
4. KAT2 ATU
5. KBT2 battery option

Once these are all working correctly, then add..
6. KIO2 I/O Option

and finally, the
7. KAF2 AF filter/RTC

Be mindful of the various links and component changes that need to be
done when adding the options. (Tack them in with the minimum of solder
and without bending the wires over)

I hope that helps.

Bart,

While there is no real requirement other than to build the base K2 first, I
prefer to build in the following sequence:
K2, K160RX, K60XV (if added), KSB2, KNB2, KAF2 - then add the others in any
order.

My reason -- All the options above (except the KNB2) have some influence on
the alignment of the final K2 bandpass filters or the BFO/Filter alignment.
Once these options have been added, the K2 can be properly aligned knowing
that the other options will only require adjustments for the option itself
and will not alter the previous alignments.
