Dear Fellow Elecrafters,
A re-posting about the new Elecraft Ragchewer's Award, especially for newer Elecrafters: As you may or may not know, the Elecraft Awards Program has been going strong for a few years now. To date, 15 Elecraft Century Club awards and 35 Elecraft Worked All States awards have been attained by various radio amateurs. With the blessing of Elecraft's founding fathers, Eric and Wayne, I am pleased to announce the addition of a new award. In order to preserve the time honored tradition of amateur radio communications; and in order to "heat up the ionosphere" as the present solar cycle winds it's way down, Elecraft is pleased to introduce the Elecraft Ragchewer's Award. This certificate will be serial numbered and printed on 8.5 X 11 inch parchment paper. It will be suitable for framing and will be based on the design of the WAS and Century Club awards. A picture of the award will be on the Elecraft website as soon as time permits. Here are the details: This operating award will be available to any licensed radio amateur who uses a KX1, K1 or K2 to establish an amateur radio QSO; and then maintains that contact for a period of no less than thirty (30) minutes. To be valid for this award, the QSO must as of August 1, 2004. The amateur that you are in contact with does NOT need to be using an Elecraft rig (even though that would be extremely cool!). To apply for the award, all you have to do is send me a copy of the QSL card that you send to the amateur that you have "shot the breeze" with. Please indicate the starting and ending times of the QSO in order to verify it's length. The "honor system" will be in effect here, so I'm trusting you will all keep this on the up and up. There is a $2 fee for printing and postage. Please include cash or a check made payable to "Larry Makoski". DX applicants should provide 2 IRCs in lieu of cash or check. Also, please make sure you include a return address to where you would like your certificate mailed. If no return address is given, it will be assumed that the address on your QSL card or your QRZ address will be the correct one. As always, please do not contact Elecraft directly with any award correspondence. All inquiries, questions or any other correspondence should be sent to me at [hidden email] Lastly, if the QSO that you are using to apply for this award is the FIRST contact made with your newly built radio, then please include the serial number and model of your radio on your QSL card; and I will add an "endorsement" to your award. So get out there, flip the big switch and get on the air! I hope you will find this to be a fun addition to the respected Elecraft Awards program. 73 de Larry W2LJ Elecraft Awards Administrator PS: You can see what the award looks like by using the following link: http://www.qsl.net/w2lj/index_page_9.html _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
