Reference Oscillator TCXO

George Rebong
I am installing a TCXO for my K3 and the manual say's:

* METHOD 1 (Frequency Counter):*

* Locate the *CONFIG:REF CAL *menu entry.

* Connect a frequency counter with +/-

*1 Hz or better *accuracy to J1 on the reference oscillator

module. Measure the exact frequency in Hz.

* Using VFO A, set the *REF CAL *parameter to

match this frequency. Then exit the menu.

I want to know what kind of connector and cable do I need to connect my
FREQUENCY COUNTER to J1. Where can I buy this cable?

My frequency counter is a hand held and has BNC-F connector.

George,

I don't know the accuracy of your frequency counter, but that accuracy
statement is with reference to the frequency of the reference oscillator
(almost 50 MHz), so that accuracy must be better than 0.5 x 10 exp8 or
0.02 ppm.  Check the specs on your counter to see if it is sufficiently
accurate.  If you put an oscilloscope probe on your counter, the tip of
that probe will reach the center conductor of J1.

Using the zero beat method when tuned to 10 or 15 MHz WWV will yield
quite accurate results with no dependency on the accuracy of external
equipment.
