Relay operating in P3

This morning I noticed a clicking sound coming from the P3. The  
display would "jump" and a solid line would appear across the  
waterfall. This happened frequently, but at various intervals. I think  
it was the relay on the IF input card. Just wondered what it is doing?

Could be the same problem I had about a week after I received my P3.  The relay would buzz every 5 - 7 seconds and the display would jump.  Eventually the relay buzzing stopped and the P3 was deaf.  Turned out to be the IF I/O board.  Elecraft sent me a replacement and I've had no problems since.
