Remote Rig without local K3 ?

hf4me
I am considering a second K3 and wondering if I can use the Remoterig system
with a computer and HRD/DM780 but without the K3 or K3-0 on the local end
until I can afford the second K3 or do I need to wait until I can get the
second radio?

Will it do digital as well or is there timing or something from the local
rig required for the digital operation?

Thanks es 73, de Jim KG0KP

Re: Remote Rig without local K3 ?

Yes, you can run without a local K3 with the Remoterig system.
I am using HRD locally.

FSK keying of the K3 is also provided through a USB comport on the
remoterig. The cables in the Remoterig package includes the correct
wiring for this on the remote end. Have a look in the manual.

We are currently six people sharing the SK3W station via remote, two of
us are using HRD to control the radio right now.

Jim,

If one K3 is at the remote site, you can easily run it using the
RemoteTRig and HRD. I was doing that for quite a few years. Once you get
your second K3, and have that at your house, you can continue to run the
remote K3 the same way, or have the local K3 control it. If you never
plan to actually need to operate the 2nd K3, it would be cheaper to buy
the K3/0.

My excuse? I have to buy the K3/0, as local K3 is being taken over by in
shack QRM from K8AJ !
