I am setting up to remote control the K3 over the Internet. With its
extensive software command set, the K3 is a great rig for remote control. However, I cannot find commands to control the level of either Microphone Gain or Compression. What am I overlooking? In addition, I had hoped the K3 would have a built-in Watchdog Timer - a menu settable maximum key-down time. From a few seconds to at least ten minutes. This is essential for remote operation to prevent accidental key-down - for example, if the computer crashes or sends an erroneous command. Both have happened here during local testing, so I feel a watchdog timer is critical to safe remote operation of the station. Is there such a timer in the K3 which I have missed? "MG" = mic gain. "CP" = speech compression. See K3 Programmer's
Reference manual. Al N1AL On Tue, 2010-09-07 at 15:39 +0000, Ron Lodewyck wrote: > I am setting up to remote control the K3 over the Internet. Unfortunately, though, (AFAIK) there is no way to set the "line in"
level remotely. Selecting "line-in" for MIC-SEL and then using the "MG" command does not do it. ~Iain / N6ML On Tue, Sep 7, 2010 at 8:59 AM, Alan Bloom <[hidden email]> wrote: > "MG" = mic gain. Glentek http://www.glentekcorp.com/index.php/index2.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=65&Itemid=65 has an RS-232 to Ethernet controller made for this purpose which includes the timer. I have one of these and it works well, although getting your computer and internet service lined up is not for wimps.
