RemoteRig K3/0 to K3/100 Issues

Brian F. Wruble-2
Hi all:

I have my remote gear all working extremely well.  I can set up the control
end as close as the same LAN as the radio end, or as far as 110 miles away,
and the results are excellent.  I have a nagging bug, however.

Quite frequently, but not always, after I have shut down the K3/0 (which
shuts down the remote K3/100), when I turn it back on again, it fails to
make the connection.  This can happen a day later or an hour later.

Fortunately, the problem is always solvable from the control end --- it
seems to relate to the control RemoteRig's way of connecting to its LAN ---
I think.  The kinds of things I try that usually result in restored comms
include:

Switching from wifi to hardwired at the control end.

Or ... going the other way.

One thing that almost always works is cycling the radio-end router, which I
can do using a remotely controlled ip power switch.  Bringing the radio end
router down for 30 seconds and restarting almost always works.

Has anyone a suggestion for what might be causing this maddeningly
intermittent problem?

Tnx.  73 de Brian W3BW

Yes, I've found that simply restarting the control RRC seems to work for
me.. It's an annoying work-around but less odious than the things you've
been doing. Of course, your failure mode may be different, but the
description sounds the same.

Restarting the control RRC rarely solves it for me, unfortunately. Thanks.

Re: RemoteRig K3/0 to K3/100 Issues

Steven Bertsch
I have a friend who uses a K3/0 and remotes to my K3/100 and we haven't had any connection issues yet. He lives 100 miles from me. Our ISP's are Comcast.
