The Elecraft utility will allow you to change the sign on banner.
You might want to check that the original owner did actually sell his if
that was not whom you bought it from as most (or the trader in between)
normally blank this before selling (or have in the models I have seen).
Not the biggest security ever as can be changed easily by those that can
run the utility but it can be checked with a qrz lookup.
I am not sure if Elecraft might consider an owner's register, but i
expect they might have an unofficial one looking at the orders for mine
they have the serial number listed? as owners know every radio has a
unique serial number. Importantly for the KX3 and K3 they are embedded
in the s/w so that they cannot be changed easily if at all.
